Services

  • Twelve-month growth plan

A written plan that names what you will sell more of, to whom, in which part of the region, and what it will cost to get there.

  • Marketing strategy and spend review

An independent read on where your marketing dollars go, what each channel returns, and what to cut, keep or test next.

  • Operations and workflow review

Trace a job or order from first call to paid invoice, find where it stalls, and fix the three steps that cost you most.

  • Seasonal cash and staffing plan

A month-by-month model of revenue, payroll and spending so summer peaks pay for quiet winters instead of surprising you.

  • Owner advisory sessions

Hourly or monthly working sessions with Ali Sedighi, MBA, for decisions that need a second senior head in the room.

Five ways we help Greater Victoria owners decide and act

VictoriaBusiness.ca is business consulting for the people who own and run companies across Greater Victoria. We help you make three kinds of decision well: what to grow next, how much to spend on marketing and where, and how to organise the daily work so a busy month doesn't turn into lost margin. You get written plans, worked numbers and a senior advisor who stays with the decision after the first meeting.

VictoriaBusiness.ca is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies, a Canadian group headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and it is led by Ali Sedighi, MBA. We are advisors. We don't do your trade work, run your shop floor or sell you software; we help you decide, then help you check whether the decision paid off.

Who this is for

This is for owners who already have customers and now have more choices than time. Typical clients run a plumbing or electrical shop with four trucks, a renovation firm turning work away in spring, a café group thinking about a second location, or a clinic whose front desk is drowning in rebooking calls.

You will get the most from us if one of these sounds familiar:

  • Revenue grew last year, but the bank balance didn't.
  • You spend on ads or an agency and can't say what it returns.
  • The same three people hold every job together, and one of them is you.
  • Summer is frantic and January is frightening.
  • You are weighing a move into Langford, Sidney or the Gulf Islands and want a sober look first.

If you are pre-launch or need an accountant, lawyer or lender, we'll tell you in the first call and suggest the kind of professional to look for.

What we work on

Five services cover almost every engagement, and most owners start with one. Each has its own page with scope, timeline and how results are measured.

  1. Twelve-month growth plan: which services, customers and municipalities to push, with targets you can track monthly.
  2. Marketing strategy and spend review: an independent audit of where your marketing money goes and what it brings back.
  3. Operations and workflow review: follow work from first call to paid invoice and remove the worst bottlenecks.
  4. Seasonal cash and staffing plan: a monthly model that matches payroll and spending to Victoria's uneven calendar.
  5. Owner advisory sessions: hourly or monthly time with Ali for decisions that won't wait for a project.

Not sure which fits? The services overview compares them side by side.

Why the capital region needs its own approach

Greater Victoria is a mid-sized market split into many small ones, and plans that ignore that split waste money. The 2021 census counted 415,451 people in the Capital Regional District, spread over 13 municipalities and three electoral areas, according to the CRD.

For an owner, that creates practical questions a generic template never asks. Is a job in Sooke worth the drive from a Saanich yard? Do Oak Bay customers buy on different terms from Langford customers? How much of your year depends on visitors, on government payroll or on the tech sector? We build those answers into the plan, and the areas page sets out what we look for in each part of the region.

A worked example you can check

Small changes in close rate often beat big changes in ad spend. Suppose a Victoria renovation firm gets 40 qualified enquiries a month, quotes 25 of them, and wins 6 jobs averaging $14,000 at a 30% gross margin.

Lever Change Extra gross profit per month
Quote more of the enquiries 25 to 30 quotes, same win rate about $5,000
Win more of the quotes 6 to 8 wins from 25 quotes about $8,400
Raise average job value $14,000 to $15,000 about $1,800

Most owners reach for more advertising first. In this example, a faster quoting process and a proper follow-up call after every quote would do more, for far less. That is the kind of arithmetic every engagement starts with.

Proof, stated honestly

Our published results come from our HVAC work, and we present them that way. They show the method of tracking every enquiry, fixing follow-up and spending where the numbers say. For example, HVACDeal.ca generated 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI, and GasBoilers.ca was built as a gas-boiler division for CANRO Heat, serving 26+ BC communities.

These are not plumbing, retail or hospitality results, and we won't pretend otherwise. The results page explains what transfers to other local businesses and what doesn't. Fees are on the pricing page, and the full group rate card sits on BusinessConsulting.ca.

How to start

Send a short message by call, text or email, and you will hear back from Ali directly. Include what you sell, roughly how big the business is, and the decision you are stuck on. We usually reply within one business day. That opening half-hour conversation costs nothing. The contact page lists what to include, and Sedighi.ca has more about the wider group.

How it works

  1. Send three numbers and one worry

Last year's revenue, your rough gross margin, your monthly marketing spend, and the single problem that keeps coming back. Estimates are fine.

  2. Get a scoped first step in writing

After a free 30-minute consultation you receive a short note: what we would look at first, how long it takes and the fixed or hourly cost.

  3. Work with the person who wrote the plan

No junior hand-off and no account manager in between. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Frequently asked questions

What is VictoriaBusiness.ca?

VictoriaBusiness.ca is a Canadian business consulting service for owner-run companies in Greater Victoria, part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group. It is led by Ali Sedighi, MBA, and the group is headquartered in Vancouver, BC.

Is this a marketing agency?

No. We advise on strategy, spend and operations, and we can help you brief or check an agency. If you want campaigns built and run for you, that is execution work, and we will say so plainly and point you to the right kind of help.

Do you meet in person in Victoria?

Yes. Consultations run in person or by video call, as well as by phone, text and email. Almost everything we review lives in your books, your calendar, your website and your ad accounts, so distance rarely slows anything down.

What does a first engagement usually cost?

Hourly consulting runs $175–$350 an hour, defined projects run $3,500–$25,000, and monthly retainers run $2,500–$12,000, all in Canadian dollars plus 5% GST. The first 30-minute consultation is free with no obligation.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Mostly owner-run firms with a handful to a few dozen staff: trades such as plumbing, electrical, roofing and renovation, plus landscapers, cleaners, clinics, shops, cafés and professional practices across the capital region.

Are your case studies from Victoria companies?

No. Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work with Canadian heating companies, and each links to the client's live site. We use them to show the method, not to claim results in your industry.
